Our Federal Government client is seeking a
**Performance and Conduct Assistant Director** to be responsible for managing a wide range of complex people management issues.

The department's human resources functions are organised in two branches, the People Branch and the Organisation Design Branch. Working in partnership, these two branches deliver strategic and operational HR functions to realise desired culture as the ‘department of great jobs’, and are flexible and innovative in how they attract, build and retain skills to achieve organisational outcomes. The position is also open to considering working from home arrangements.

**About the role**:
The Performance and Conduct Assistant Director is responsible for managing a wide range of complex people management issues.

This includes case management of matters relating to performance management, underperformance, investigation of alleged breaches of the code of conduct, workplace conflict, bullying and harassment, dispute resolution, reviews of action and Public Interest Disclosures. Promoting a harassment free workplace and coordination of the Employee Support Officer (ESO) network is also an integral function of the team.

**Ideally, you will have**:

- Proven research, analytical and conceptual skills to resolve a range of complex HR and people management issues
- Ability to manage underperformance, attendance issues, harassment, misconduct and review of actions cases
- A clear understanding of the legislative and policy framework that relates to people management in the APS
- Highly developed case management skills, well developed communication and negotiation skills and ability to interact effectively and sensitively with staff at all levels
- Demonstrated team leadership and project management skills
- A relevant qualification or background in Human Resources, Law or Injury Management is desirable but not essential
