The Financial Reporting and Insolvency Unit has responsibility for providing advice to Treasury ministers on matters related to:

- Australia’s financial reporting framework - including the oversight of bodies responsible for Australia’s accounting and audit quality standards; and
- business restructuring and insolvency law.

The Unit’s functions and projects include:

- providing secretariat support to the Financial Reporting Council, which oversees the Australian Accounting Standards Board and the Audit and Assurance Standards Board
- assisting with the development and implementation of new climate risk disclosure standards
- examining the operation of Australia’s insolvency laws, including assisting the current Parliamentary inquiry into corporate insolvency
- examining the policy settings in place to maintain and improve audit quality in Australia, including oversight of matters relating to the Company Auditors Disciplinary Board.

The unit also handles other matters related to the operations of the Corporations Act 2001 as required.

The unit is situated within the Corporations Branch of the Market Conduct Division, Markets Group. As a Director in the Corporations Branch you will be working with a team of leaders that have broad responsibilities that cover a wide range of matters related to corporations law and responsible business conduct.

The Savings, Coverage and Drawdowns Unit has responsibility for providing advice to Treasury ministers on matters related to:

- the superannuation guarantee rate and coverage,
- superannuation’s retirement phase,
- death benefits and
- superannuation related housing matters.

The unit also has a role in providing advice on the retirement income system more broadly, including the Age Pension, and to contributing to international retirement income policy development.

The unit is situated within the Tax and Transfers Branch of the Retirement, Advice and Investment Division, Markets Group. As a Director in the Tax and Transfers Branch you will be working in a team with responsibility for superannuation, financial advice and investment policy.

The Financial Adviser Standards Unit has responsibility for setting educational standards for financial advisers, principles for the financial adviser exam, the financial adviser code of ethics and approval of foreign qualifications.

The unit is situated within the Advice and Investment Branch of the Retirement, Advice and Investment Division, Markets Group. As a Director in the Advice and Investments Branch you will be working in a team with responsibility for superannuation, financial advice and investment policy.

**Desirable Qualifications / Experience**:

- lead a team of people to identify opportunities for improving policy settings and navigate policy issues as they emerge
- develop and implement strategic directions for the unit, and manage competing priorities effectively
- build team capability through coaching, providing performance feedback and encouraging career development
- develop and maintain productive relationships with other government agencies and with stakeholders in the private sector and in academia
- have accountability for briefings to ministers and senior officials, inputs to speeches, replies to parliamentary questions and other correspondence
- represent Treasury at whole of government and/or industry meetings.
