What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Coordinator Strategy & Performance Office

You will work under the strategic direction of the senior executive and are responsible for the leadership and management of a number of teams to deliver outcomes. They require in depth knowledge and understanding of the AFP business and the impact of roles and functions undertaken in relation to the organisation’s reputation to effectively manage operations.

Executive Level employees must also ensure the achievement of outcomes are in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments.

What will you do?

The Strategy and Policy Coordination branch works within the AFP’s Strategy and Performance Office providing an enterprise view across all policy matters impacting the AFP. These include policies on policing in Australia and internationally as well as policy matters related to national security. We work across the AFP and with key external partner agencies including the Attorney-General’s Department, the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, the Department of Defence and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to ensure the whole of AFP view is presented to achieve the best outcomes for our organisation.

The team is seeking Coordinators with policy and organisational strategy experience. You will have experience in leading and developing teams, mentoring staff, achieving outcomes often in compressed time frames. Coordinators in the AFP form part of the leadership team and will contribute to activities across the Strategy and Performance Office and the broader AFP.

Essential Requirements

A Negative Vetting 2 security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Relevant qualification or extensive experience and knowledge in area of expertise.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Highly developed strategic thinking skills, relationship management and negotiation skills in support of strategic outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team.
