Deeply ingrained in the community, the State Library of NSW actively collaborates with public libraries, fostering partnerships to enhance and uplift services for the people of NSW. **About the role** The NSW State Librarian is responsible for guiding and overseeing the strategic direction, operations, and resources of the State Library of NSW. This entails providing expert advice to the Minister for the Arts and the Library Council, ensuring the Library achieves its objectives and key performance indicators in accordance with relevant legislation and government policies. The State Librarian also plays a crucial role in preserving and developing the Library's collection, engaging with the community, acquiring support and resources, and managing relationships with stakeholders. The position requires effective leadership, asset management, and collaboration to promote library and information services both locally and internationally. Key challenges for the role include positioning the State Library as a world-class institution, forging strong relationships with various stakeholders, securing ongoing support and resources, and fostering a culture of respect and responsibility through exemplary leadership. The State Librarian reports to the Minister for the Arts and the Library Council of NSW, ensuring compliance with the Library Act of 1939 and facilitating informed decision-making by providing necessary information and strategic advice to the Council. *
