Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) is a self-funded commercialised business unit within the department and is responsible for delivering the objectives of the Economic Development Act 2012, principally the facilitation of economic development and development for community purposes.EDQ has a unique opportunity for a Director to join the Office of the General Manager for 12 months.
The Office of the General Manager assists with achieving the Department's objectives by providing leadership, strategic direction, communications, corporate and correspondence support to the wider Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) team to create places and investment opportunitiesfor Queenslanders to prosper. EDQ leads and delivers infrastructure and property projects for Queensland's economic benefit and drives a range of development projects.
These include large complex urban sites which support urban renewal, regional residential projects which respond to community need, industrial activities which generate on-going employment opportunities and infrastructure projects which activate further development.

**To succceed in this role, you will possess the skills to**:
Oversee the day to day operations of the Office of the General Manager, including ensuring that significant and sensitive issues are promptly brought to the attention of the General Manager and that required follow-up action is handled in an appropriate and timely manner.
Provide an active co-ordination role in assisting the General Manager to lead the progression of the Group's strategic direction through the ongoing development and implementation of the strategic plan, and associated initiatives.
Provide a wide range of strategic, tactical and operational advice, analysis and support to the General Manager to enable effective strategic decision-making and risk minimisation through maintaining an intimate knowledge of current and emerging issues and priorities impacting on EDQ.
Lead and manage the effective coordination of responses to correspondence, briefs, submissions and ministerial requests within EDQ, including the integration of information and briefings from a variety of sources to provide the General Manager with consolidated briefings, recommendations and advice.
Lead and manage the effective coordination of reporting requirements for EDQ including, but not limited to, agency service delivery statements, estimates and annual reports, ensuring quality outcomes.
Provide strategic direction in relation to EDQ's corporate communications including overseeing the implementation of the corporate communications strategy and providing advice on communications and stakeholder engagement matters as required.
Develop and maintain effective networks with a range of stakeholders both in the public and private sectors.
Undertake other strategic tasks as requested by EDQ and/or the General Manager.
