The role
Reporting to the Deputy Director-General you will provide strategic leadership and oversight of Executive and Divisional Services and provides a conduit between the ODDG and the Offices of the Director-General, Minister for Health and Ambulance Services and other Deputy Directors-General's. You will also Provide independent, strategic, consistent, and timely advice to the DDG regarding contentious, time-critical, or confidential matters, and other issues as required to ensure business continuity.
Furthermore, you will be responsible for resolving issues, particularly contentious, time-critical, or confidential matters as required. Reviewing and providing advice on major policy documents, submissions and issues put to the DDG and other Executives will play a major part in your key responsibility's.
The successful person
To be successful in this role you will have a comprehensive understanding and breadth of experience in providing leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills daily.
Leadership
- Demonstrated senior management and leadership skills, including the ability to initiate and strategically manage change, allocate resources effectively and maximise staff potential.
- Experience in leading and managing divisional services including financial, human resources, correspondence, executive support, and governance functions.
- Experience in navigating through complex administrative and policy environments and engage and influence stakeholders to effectively deliver required outcomes.
Communication
- Outstanding written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated capacity to liaise, mediate and negotiate with all levels of staff and with a range of stakeholders in a sensitive and confidential manner.
- Proven ability to positively engage and develop influential relationships and maintain effective and productive partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders and colleagues.
- Robust and dynamic interpersonal skills to enable the provision of advice and support to the Deputy Director-General ensuring timeframes, milestones and deadlines are achieved.
Problem solving
- High-level problem-solving skills and the capacity to analyse and integrate information from diverse sources to provide concise, accurate and appropriate information.
- Extensive experience in providing sensitive, confidential, and complex support and policy advice to Executive Management within large complex public sector organisations.
- Detailed understanding of Queensland Health, or a similarly large organisation, its functions, organisational arrangements, and priorities in providing excellence in the delivery of health services to Queenslanders.
- Demonstrated capacity for innovation, creativity, and sound judgement in a complex operational environment.
