Payroll Officer Needed, Ballarat Based, Local Council Position, 6 Month Contract

Hays Recruitment Ballarat have partnered with a local government organisation that are looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Officer for a 6 month fixed term contract with possibility for extension

**Your new role**
As an experienced Payroll Officer your duties will include but not limited to the following:

- Ensure accurate and timely production of payroll, complying with statutory and Council requirements.
- Develop and maintain a Payroll Users' Manual including end to end work instructions.
- Provide advice to HR Advisors, Line Managers and Supervisors on payroll workflow processes and procedures.
- Draft procedures and forms relating to payroll management under the direction of the Manager.
- Analyse, review and improve payroll processes and undertake system maintenance.
- Develop and produce functional reports for management and People and Culture upon request.
- Provide Aurion systems training to internal customers as required.
- Ensure payroll information and responses to requests are handled confidentially and in accordance with Council's policies and the Information Privacy Act.
- Regularly reconcile and balance employee payroll deductions.
- Prepare Workers' Compensation claims reports for PIAWE (Pre-injury Average Weekly Earnings) for new claims and CWE (Current Weekly Earnings) for active claims to ensure reimbursements are correct in accord with Accident compensation Act, EBA or Award requirements on a fortnightly basis. Reconcile and remit monthly superannuation contributions.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Relevant experience working at this level to deliver a computerised payroll or financial service.
- Experience in working with Aurion Production or comparable computer software program.
- Demonstrated experience in interpreting complex documentation such as legislation, Awards and/or Agreements.
- Demonstrated experience in providing advice on complex matters in a confidential environment.
