We are looking for a keen and enthusiastic policy and regulatory professional to deliver results in a fast paced environment.

The AO8 Manager, Renewable Energy Zones (REZ) and Transmission Policy, is responsible for leading on electricity transmission policy reform and the development of Queensland's REZ framework to improve coordination of energy infrastructure to meet household and business energy demand, and to ensure positive community outcomes. This will help enable the construction of large-scale renewable energy and connection of an additional 22GW of capacity by 2035, consistent with the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan.

Key responsibilities
- Conduct and coordinate high level advice and analysis on a wide range of policy, strategic and confidential matters.
- Lead and manage the effective delivery of projects through scoping and planning, establishing governance arrangements, managing allocated resources and developing methodologies for future work programs. This includes the coordination of work programs that involve legislation changes
- Build, maintain and develop strong and effective relationships, work collaboratively and negotiate extensively with divisional staff and other areas of the department and external stakeholders as required including Government Owned Corporations, to manage and monitor projects and policy initiatives and report on their progress and outcomes
- Exercise high levels of judgement to effectively manage competing priorities while working collaboratively with colleagues, or individually, to deliver workloads on time and which meet customer's expectations
- Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of reports, submissions, briefing notes, presentations and correspondence on behalf of the Deputy Director-General, Director-General and Minister
- Represent Queensland on National working groups to progress transmission policy reform and engage with other jurisdictions and market bodies including the Australian Energy Market Commission, Australian Energy Regulator and Australian Energy Market Operator
- Contribute to a positive and effective team culture by playing a lead role in work area goal-setting, service improvement and other Unit/Divisional activities
- Lead and motivate the REZ and Transmission Policy team to promote an accountable, fair and safe work environment. Proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct of your team
- Other tasks as directed.

Technical/operational expertise
- Demonstrated experience and leadership in policy development
- Experience in communicating with internal and external stakeholders and building relationships to establish mutually beneficial connections
- Ability to respond in a fast paced environment and deliver results
- Demonstrated experience in managing competing priorities and customer and stakeholder expectations
- Experience in leadership and motivating a team.
- Energy expertise and an understanding of the energy sector including energy generation and transmission is highly desirable, but not essential
