The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) is seeking a proactive and experienced HR Adviser to join our People Services Branch. The role will be filled in either the WHS team or Health Case Management Team. You will work with a high degree of autonomy, collaborating with internal stakeholders and external providers to deliver WHS services that support a safe, inclusive, and productive workplace.

**Duties**

- Coordinate and manage workplace incidents, by gathering information, providing advice, documenting outcomes, and liaising with case managers and relevant stakeholders.
- Manage contact officers (Health Safety Representatives, Harassment Contact Officers, First Aid Officers), including calling for nominations, meeting minutes, updating intranet content, reporting, reviewing and recommending actions on risk assessment responses.
- Lead and support mental health and wellbeing initiatives, including early intervention strategies and promotion of internal and external wellbeing resources.
- Monitor legislative and policy changes, and contribute to updates in internal WHS practices, procedures, and documentation.
- Provide advice to managers and staff on WHS obligations, risk mitigation strategies, and best practice approaches.
- Maintain WHS-related data and spreadsheets and contribute to reporting and analysis to identify trends and inform decision-making.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external providers to ensure timely and effective delivery of WHS services and support.

Health Case Management Team

- Provide non-complex case management services to employees or clients, focusing on early intervention strategies to prevent escalation of issues.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., medical professionals, HR, managers) to develop and implement rehabilitation or support plans.
- Manage compensation and non-compensation cases of medium complexity.

**Eligibility**

- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
