**The Role**
Our Business Management team is a dynamic group with a collaborative work culture. We provide administration support to a busy, integrated team of environmental officers. We are seeking an APS 5 Contracting Officer who thrives in a complex contracting environment. If you have a strong attention to detail, and the talent to work on wide-ranging contract and procurement activities, this is the role for you.
This role will suit you if you:
- Are well-versed in approach to market, tendering, evaluation, contract formation and management;
- Can provide contracting advice consistent with legislation, and policy, and can undertake research and perform procedural support to achieve results;
- Are eager to take on tasks, outside your skillset, in support of others.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are key to this role. You will be required to demonstrate commitment to customer service and an agile approach to service delivery in an environment where priorities change rapidly.
**About our Team**
The Directorate of Contamination Assessment, Remediation and Management (DCARM) bring expertise in contamination management to enable military capability, estate management, community safety and responsible land management.
DCARM investigates, remediates and manages risks to the environment and human health from legacy-contaminated sites. It also investigates and discloses details of contamination in property transactions and maintains public access to information about contamination on the Defence estate.
We are looking for high performing, experienced Contracting Officer to be a part of our small but dynamic Business Management team. We are a well skilled and diverse team dedicated to continuous improvement. Collectively we rely on each other’s knowledge and strengths to achieve results.

An APS 5 Contracting Officer plays a key role by providing business contracting and procurement advice and high-level reporting. They provide advice and guidance to ensure policy compliance.

- Able to foster productive stakeholder relationships and contribute to the continuous improvement of the team;
- Understanding of the requirements of the Commonwealth Procurement Framework, and able to service the activities for the lifecycle of DCARM procurement and contracting;
- Experienced in the coordination and provision of specialist advice for procurement and contracting, compliant with legislation, policy, process and procedures;
- Responsive to complex queries and able to advise on commercial risk, legal principles and contractual performance;
- Able to assist with assessment and implementation of procurement and contracting risk mitigation strategies; and
- Driven to meet business objectives and to recommend solutions for issues impacting the achievement of desired outcomes.
