People Policy and Employment Conditions Branch have multiple broadband APS 5-6 positions available where you will perform a broad range of workplace relations and support functions.

The APS 5-6 Workplace Relations Officer will have experience in some or all of the following areas:

- The ability to convert data and information into valuable reports and/or advice.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- High level planning, organising and prioritising skills.
- Taking responsibility of a self-managed workload by meeting deadlines.
- Making decisions within parameters and escalating complex issues as necessary.
- The ability to research and interrupt policy and legislation.
- Stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated experiencing fostering good relationships.
- Supporting challenging and highly complex Human Resources activities.

Examples of some of the duties that may be required include:

- Responding to a range of general HR and Industrial Relations matters verbally and in writing.
- Providing complex industrial relations policy advice to Senior Leaders.
- Contribute and/or lead the development of people policy.
- Provide secretariat support to working level meetings.
- Draft and develop executive briefs, committee papers and Questions on Notice.

**About our Team**
People Policy & Employment Conditions Branch is responsible for developing and implementing policies on pay and employment conditions for ADF members and APS employees. This recruitment round will be used to fill vacant positions in the below directorates.
- **Military Remuneration (DMR)**is responsible for developing remuneration policy for the consideration of the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal. DMR manages policy on military salaries and allowances. It provides information and advice on complex matters in relation to these policies.
- ** Superannuation Policy and Special Projects** is responsible for providing policy advice and analysis to the Senior Leadership Group (SLG) and Ministers on superannuation issues and special projects. This includes proposals for, and implementation of, policy changes to particular military superannuation schemes and amendments to legislation. The Directorate also supports the Minister for Defence Personnel in responding to veterans’ queries and concerns.
- ** Overseas and Housing Policy** is responsible for developing, innovating and contemporising policies relating to overseas conditions of service for Defence Personnel, and domestic Housing and relocation policy for ADF Personnel.
- ** APS Workplace Relations (APSWR)** is responsible for the development, negotiation, dissemination, implementation and evaluation of conditions of employment and associated people policies for APS employees. It also manages of industrial matters and disputes. The Directorate also develops workplace agreements for SES and non-SES APS employees.
- ** Drafting and Engagement** develop legal instruments that give effect to pay and conditions for the ADF and the APS workforce. Takes a user experience approach to providing access to pay and conditions information. Responsible for the ADF pay and conditions website.

An order of merit will be created to fill future vacancies across the branch.

We currently have a vacancy for the APS 5-6 Remuneration Policy and Business Administration Officer in the Directorate of Military Remuneration, an order of merit will be created to fill future positions across the branch. The team is responsible for coordinating pay and employment category proposals, and supporting Defence’s attendance at the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal.

They will display initiative, have a strong attention to detail, and be committed to providing consistent, high-quality support, as well as a broad range of the below qualities and/or experience:

- Is motivated and takes ownership of their work.
- Work effectively both independently and/or leading a team.
- Demonstrated experience in policy development, preferably in a human resources context.
- Be adaptable whilst remain outcome-focused with an ability to achieve results.
- The ability to work in a geographically dispersed team.
- Exhibit strong ethics and judgement in working with sensitive and classified information.
