Front End Cart Assistant

**Description of position**:
Retrieves carts and flatbeds from parking area and surrounding Docklands area using a electric cart mule machine with rope with clasping hook. Keeps car parking lot and carts area free of debris and sweeps in front of building. Assists members in loading merchandise and provides a high level of member service.

**Daily tasks and responsibilities**:

- Walks through parking lot and around surrounding Docklands area to gather carts and flatbeds during business hours. Collects carts in groups not to exceed 8-10. Secures carts with clasping cart rope and pushes carts to front of warehouse.
- Collects flatbeds, pushes flatbeds to front of the warehouse, following all safety and security procedures.
- Picks up boxes, trash and other debris to keep lot area clear. Sweeps in front of building and empties trash, cleans spills, broken product when necessary. Tags and pushes carts/ flatbeds needing repair to designated area.
- Assists members to load merchandise, providing prompt and courteous member service.
- Checks around building at closing for carts, following proper departmental procedures for performance of duties.

**Non-Essential Functions and Tasks**:

- Assists other areas in the department as necessary.
- Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary.
- Operates mechanical trash compactor/cardboard baler.

A requirement of this position is that all carts employees wear steel cap boots.

Must be able to work a variety of shifts including work across the Front End when required.

Must be available to work a 7 day rotating roster which will include weekend work and starts from 8am or finishing as late as 11pm. Full availability Monday to Sunday is required.
