**About the Role**

Due to the ongoing growth of the Rivalea business, we are currently recruiting a Genetics Officer to join our team in a newly created position. Based at our processing facility in Corowa, the Genetics Officer will be responsible for effectively coordinating Rivalea’s breeding program. This role is best suited to a recent graduate (degree, diploma or equivalent experience) looking to join an organisation that will foster and support their long-term career opportunities.
- Coordinate the daily activities of the breeding program at Corowa ensuring key targets are achieved
- Oversee the selection of replacement animals across all breeding program sites for continuous improvement in breeding values
- Coordinate movement of boars between Module 5, Skills Centre and Kings
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and drive solutions (technology, infrastructure, etc.) as appropriate in consultation with the relevant Site Manager
- Ensure accurate data collection of key traits essential for the breeding program
- Oversee the accurate data collection from the Nedap PPT feeders
- Undertake daily welfare checks of pigs in the Nedap PPT feeders to ensure all pigs are receiving feed
- Undertake regular maintenance and calibration of the Nedap PPT feeders
- Coordinate the collection of DNA samples of all aged pigs and send to laboratory for analysis
- Provide weekly feedback to the Module 5 Farming team and address any concerns promptly
- Actively deliver training to the Farming team on genetic tasks
- Coordinate the purchasing of identification tags for use in the breeding program and any other equipment required for data capture/use in the genetics program
- Positively contribute to the innovative culture of the Company through the scientific community and professional relationships
- Maintain strong working relationships with all Rivalea staff and external stakeholders
- Ensure annual objectives are regularly reviewed and met

**About You**
- Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Animal Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience in animal research or breeding
- Sound level of physical fitness
- High level communication skills
- Self-motivated with effective organisational skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Intermediate computer skills
- Willing and prepared to work variable hours
- Willing to travel frequently to other locations
- Current driver’s licence
