The roleThe Scientific Officer in Biodiversity Research role focuses on exploring the evolution and ecology of native flora to support biodiversity management and conservation. You'll conduct cutting-edge research, analyzing complex genetic, environmental, and morphological data to uncover patterns that shape biodiversity. The role will be leading meta-analyses and large-scale interpretative studies on our extensive multispecies landscape-genomics datasets. This involves developing innovative tools, coordinating research projects, and collaborating with diverse stakeholders to produce impactful scientific outcomes We are looking for scientists with relevant experience and expertise in population genetics/genomics (plant or animal), handling big data, interpretational skills and motivation to further develop their talent to lead high impact research resulting in innovative manuscripts.
In this role, you'll tackle challenges such as independently solving research issues, staying at the forefront of advancements in biodiversity science, and contributing to the Trust's reputation as a leader in evolutionary ecology. You will also collaborate in and contribute to a range of existing ReCER restoration and conservation genomics projects. Your work will include preparing publications, managing projects, and sharing findings through workshops and presentations to ensure effective communication and application of research outcomes.

What you will bring to the role
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and manage complex biodiversity data effectively.
- Hands-on experience in managing datasets for biodiversity research projects.
- Proficiency in using diverse software tools for data analysis and integrating genetic, environmental, and morphological datasets.
- A proven track record of preparing high-quality scientific publications and presenting research to diverse audiences.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams, stakeholders, and the broader scientific community.
- A passion for biodiversity exploration, a commitment to scientific excellence, and the ability to apply innovative solutions to conservation challenges.
- A completed or in-progress PhD in Biological Sciences, ideally with a focus on evolutionary ecology
- Experience in field collection, biodiversity data management and molecular or environmental analysis

What is an essential requirement:
- Tertiary qualification in Biological Sciences and experience in the latest evolutionary ecology techniques.
- Current driver's license with the ability to drive manual vehicles
