About the role
The Discipline Lead Occupational therapy provides specialised clinical services to mental health consumers in Forensic and Secure Services through the professional governance and leadership of Occupational Therapy Services and the provision of high-Level Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions. Forensic and Secure Services is comprised of the state-wide High Security Inpatient Service, supra Hospital and Health Service Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit and the Extended Forensic Treatment and Rehabilitation Unit. The role is responsible for the professional and operational leadership of Occupational Therapists, Recreation Officers and Clinical Assistants. Where required the role provides professional leadership to Occupational Therapists working in the Prison Mental Health Service, The Learning Centre and Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research
About you
- Demonstrates capacity to provide advanced Occupational Therapy services, professional and operational leadership of Occupational Therapists in the context of a Forensic and Secure inpatient setting.
- Demonstrates high level communication skills in the context of managing the Occupational Therapy service (including Recreational Officers and Clinical Assistants) and leading initiatives across discipline and service types including high level negotiation, management and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrates high level operational management skills and accountability for meeting prescribed fiscal and human resource management targets.
- Demonstrates ability to set direction and lead relevant service development activity in the contest of a state-wide specialist service.

**Mandatory Requirements**:

- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Vaccinated against COVID-19 as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO.12/21and the Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
