There are three vacancies:

- a member representing the general community who has expertise or experience in matters associated with victims of crime
- a member with expertise or experience in juvenile justice
- a member with expertise or experience in criminal law or sentencing

The NSW Sentencing Council advises the NSW Attorney General on sentencing matters and oversees the production of research papers and reports.

Successful applicants will become members of the Council, which is constituted by 16 members with diverse experience including judicial officers, prosecutors, criminal defence lawyers, police, victims advocates and members of the community.

The Council meets monthly via hybrid arrangements, either in the Sydney CBD or on Microsoft Teams.

**Selection Criteria**
- **member with expertise in matters associated with victims of crime** - expertise or expertise in matters associated with victims of crime
- **member with expertise in juvenile justice** - expertise or experience in juvenile justice
- **member with expertise and experience in criminal law or sentencing** - expertise or experience in criminal law and the sentencing process
- **all roles** - interest in, and insight into, the issues facing the criminal justice system generally, and sentencing in particular, and
- **all roles** - the ability to work co-operatively and exercise sound judgement.

Members may receive a limited payment for attending meetings in accordance with the NSW Government Boards and Committees Remuneration schedule and relevant Premier’s Memoranda.
