Underground Manager

The historic Mount Magnet operation is located 500km north of Perth in the Murchison Goldfield. Acquired by Ramelius in 2010, the mining area incorporates multiple underground and open pit mines and a 1.9kt processing plant, covering over 225km² of mining tenements.

The Mt Magnet site has been an incredibly profitable and successful operation and this is a rare opportunity to join a stable, long life asset with an experienced team in place. You will be overseeing 3 underground mines, in addition to development of future mines and closure activities as well on this dynamic site.

The position is offered as permanent opportunity, FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton working on a 4 days on, 3 days off basis.

**Job Requirements**:
Reporting to the General Manager - Mt Magnet, you will be accountable for the following areas:

- Lead the Underground Mining team including Alternate Underground Manager, Production Engineers and Survey teams to deliver against the budget, schedules and mine plans for multiple underground operations.
- Ensure the Underground mining team are aligned to ensure safe production is always achieved and to meet company strategy whilst ensuring accountability for costs.
- Ensure compliance with all legislative and statutory requirements, as well as internal management standards.
- Work collaboratively with the Mine Geology and Processing teams to ensure maximum value and recovery is always prioritised.
- Ensure an open and collaborative relationship is maintained with the underground mining contractor.
- Lead continuous improvement within the underground operations by coaching and inspiring your team to reach high standards of technical and practical expertise.
- Manager the Mining Contractor claims assessment process, approvals and variations.
- Monitor the Mining Contractor performance, in conjunction with the Underground Mine Foreman to work together on achieving outcomes for both contractor and the underground team.

**ABOUT YOU**

- Bachelor Mining Engineering or equivalent (mandatory)
- First Class Mine Manager Certificate of Competency (mandatory)
- Previous experience at this level, leading teams and overseeing complex and dynamic underground environments.
- Significant commercial acumen and skilled in budget preparation, monitoring and overseeing contractor performance against contractual obligations and ensuring claims are correct and aligned to actual performance.
- A West Australian C class driver’s license (manual) and the ability to obtain a National Police Clearance for site access clearance purposes.
