**Overview of Division**:
Opportunities currently exist across various Branches in Immigration Programs Division.
Immigration Programs Division is responsible for the delivery of Australia’s temporary and migration visa program.
- Family Visas Branch _
Responsible for policy, program management and program delivery of the Family migration program and its related functions, including domestic and family violence support.
- Temporary Visa Branch_
Provides policy, program management and program delivery of all temporary visas both in Australia and overseas, as well as a range of border and bridging visas.
- Skilled Visa Branch_
Responsible for policy, program management and program delivery of a range of temporary, provisional and permanent visas focused on applicants who are recognised as having specific skills that contribute to the total Skilled Migration Program.
**About the role**:
While staff at the APS4 level work under the general supervision and direction of a line manager, and are part of a team, they are expected to be able to work independently to manage their own workload to contribute to the delivery of the business objectives of the section. Work is high volume in a fast paced environment, and officers need to be flexible to respond to changing demands in workload.
**Specific duties/responsibilities**:
These will be dependent on the roles that become available and typical duties may include:
- Conducting assessments and making decisions under relevant legislation
- Identifying, assessing, investigating and escalating caseload assurance and integrity concerns
- Drafting submissions for character consideration by a delegate or Minister
- Researching and analysing information for complex or protracted identity concern cases
- Conducting interviews
- Communicating with clients and their representatives and other stakeholders
**Role requirements/qualifications**:
- Have an ability to acquire a sound operational understanding of departmental systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Be able to plan and achieve own work goals, in accordance with established priorities
- Demonstrate flexibility and an ability to produce high quality work output in a context of competing priorities and strict timeframes
