The Communications and Marketing Service is responsible for the service activities of
Media Management; Corporate Communications; Community Engagement; Public
Relations; Marketing; Crisis Communications; Events and Policy Management / Training.
The position is required to assist the Manager Communications & Marketing position to lead
the delivery of the Corporate Communications & Marketing service for the community and
Council. This involves the effective leadership and direction to the Corporate
Communications & Marketing team and to the organisation for a broad range of marketing
and communications activities, including digital and online technologies. The role is
required to plan, coordinate and deliver a high standard of engaging, relevant and effective
communications, public relations, community engagement, marketing, corporate and civic
events programs across the organisation and in the community.

**Staff Responsibility**:Direct management of 6 FTE staff positions, as
well as temporary and casual staff and external
contractors and consultants as required.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
1. Ensuring the development and delivery of high quality internal and external corporate
communications and marketing initiatives, including digital and social media, web
content, corporate branding and community engagement.
2. Develop, maintain and enhance strong professional working relationships with senior
management, staff and external stakeholders to deliver high quality, integrated
communication across a range of channels and platforms.
3. Support and strengthen the brand and reputation of Blue Mountains City Council by
providing relevant and responsive communications, marketing and community
engagement practices that meet or exceed the needs of stakeholders, including issue
management and crisis communications.
4. Provide high level specialist advice and timely and professional communication support
to the Chief Executive Officer, office of the Mayor and staff, including the development
of communications strategies, collateral and speech writing.
5. Provide factual and timely media releases and responses and demonstrate initiative in
creating media promotion opportunities.
6. Prepare Council reports, briefings and position statements on request and as required.
7. Work outside of core hours and with a high level of autonomy.

**Workplace Health & Safety**
