Project Officer

**About the Role**

**_This is a fixed term full time position until 5 July 2026._**

Reporting to the Manager, School Evaluation and Planning, Asset Planning Branch, this position is responsible for working with teams across the division, and VSBA more broadly, to undertake analysis of school sites and to develop recommendations on investment priorities across the school portfolio. The Project Officer will have a high degree of autonomy, and will be self motivated and driven to produce results through collaboration.

The key accountabilities for the Project Officer role include:

- Promoting and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders within the Authority and across the Department.
- Providing data analysis using various data sources for program and costings analysis to feed into funding decisions.
- Responding to requests for information from the Minister's Office and Executive team of the VSBA.
- Developing and writing briefs and policies to implement and improve program management and governance
- Collaborating with other units to determine and maintain best practice data management and collection and interpretation.
- Maintain and monitor strong project administration for programs that addresses school maintenance and enrolment growth.

**About the Department**

It does this by supporting lifelong learning and healthy development, strengthening families and helping to equip people with the skills and knowledge for a 21st century economy and society.

**About the Victorian School Building Authority**

The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) is part of the Department of Education. Established in 2016, it oversees Victoria's largest school building program since the state introduced free public education in the 1870s.

The VSBA upgrades and expands existing schools and plans, designs and builds new schools to meet enrolment demand. We also support schools to maintain their buildings and grounds by offering expert advice and coordinating maintenance programs and grants.

With Victoria recently introducing two years of funded kindergarten, the VSBA is also working with the early childhood sector on a massive kindergarten construction program.

**About the Division**
- based programs. The Division also plans and co-ordinates delivery of new early childhood facilities and support for the wider early childhood sector to build, improve and upgrade infrastructure through a number of grants programs, including programs which provide funding to make kindergartens for inclusive for children of all abilities.

The School Evaluation and Planning Unit is responsible for the delivery of individual school infrastructure strategies, evaluates schools for future investment and advises government about capital needs across the portfolio, providing data-driven project costings for schools and resolves school 'Issues Resolutions' (IRs are a formal process for schools to seek to change or dispute an element of their state budget funding or projects)
