The opportunity

We are currently seeking a motivated and hardworking Business Controller to join our established Australian Operations and reap the rewards of an inclusive and engaging team. You will be the standalone Business Controller in Brisbane, working with small team of two additional Business Controller and the Country Controller in Perth. Your initial duties and responsibilities will include:

- Be a Finance Business Partner that pro-actively advises management on finance and business-related topics
- Ownership of the integrity of our cost management system, processes and procedures to ensure a consistent approach to project cost control, budget tracking, forecasting, cashflow and performance analysis
- Management of the cost and progress reporting process in order to provide consistent, accurate and timely reporting to the project management team including identification of any required actions to maintain approved baseline targets.
- Ensures correct revenue recognition and WIP
- Ensures correct cost base for tendering, budgeting and planning
- Challenges project budgets and analyses progress
- Prepares and aligns project forecasts
- Supports tendering process (incl. cash flow forecast)
- Sets (project) accruals and provisions
- Lead budget, forecast and management reporting processes
- Approves accounting & reporting to Group and external statutory accounts (with support from shared service financial operations)
- Manages working capital and cash needs
- Responsible for credit management
- Prepares investment proposals, provides transaction support
- Responsible for internal control of business-related processes and SLA management

Your success in securing this role will require

We’re looking for someone who can deliver positive planning and cost outcomes, utilising best practises and collaborative methods. Ideally you will bring;
- Demonstrated experience managing and reporting the cost components of large-scale, complex capital projects, including developing and managing a progress reporting methodology for a complicated design effort
- Sound understanding of project cost control processes and techniques including methods for transitioning from study estimate to project budget, project cost and cash flow forecasting and analysis
- Strong communication skills, ability to interface with project and corporate stakeholders
- Degree qualified (bachelor’s degree in Engineering or bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Finance and Project Management) or internationally accredited project controls certification
