Head of Business Controls

**About the role**

Great Southern Bank is enhancing its Small Business Bank (SBB) offering and has created a new role, leading end-to-end risk oversight of the business. It’s an exciting opportunity to be a key player in a unique digital first industry proposition.

As the Head of Business Controls, you provide strategic and thought leadership on all risk classes, including operational risk, credit risk, compliance, and treasury risk, ensuring a robust business banking risk management framework and control environment. You are a key partner to Great Southern Bank’s Chief Risk Officer, and a leader within the Small Business Division. You provide leadership in setting risk appetite and identifying, mitigating, monitoring, and reporting on emerging risks. You work closely with leaders delivering credit risk oversight, with a focus on credit strategies, models, and governance to support the business banking portfolio. You ensure these frameworks are aligned to our strategic direction, are commercially effective, ethical, and are compliant with legislation, regulation, current governance best practice.

**What we’re looking for**
- 8+ years’ experience in financial services with a demonstrated understanding of operational and credit risk, financial services regulations and their effective implementation, compliance and oversight
- Hands-on experience implementing effective governance models in a financial institution
- An ability to foster relationships with business partners and stakeholders
- Knowledge of relevant Finance industry standards, acts, codes and legislation (e.g., APRA, Consumer Credit Code, Credit Union Code of Practice, Privacy Act, Trade Practices Act, FSRA) (essential)
- Practical and efficient while keeping the big picture and organisational impact front of mind
- A champion of change who thrives on working in an agile and dynamic environment
