The State Library of New South Wales is one of Australia’s oldest and most important public institutions. The Media & Communications Branch sits within the Mitchell Librarian & Engagement Division which supports the State Library’s engagement with the people of NSW and beyond through exhibitions, public programs, fellowships, learning and Indigenous engagement. The Media & Communications Branch is responsible for providing the strategic media direction for the Library and creating a positive public profile. The Branch develops communications and engagement plans around the Library's key programs and activities.

**About the Role**
The Communications Officer is situated in the Media and Communications Branch. The State Library has a number of social media channels and one of the main responsibilities of the Communications Officer is to actively create and coordinate content that generates awareness and engagement in the Library and its programs, venues (eg. The Library Bar) and activities. The role will liaise with key stakeholders to coordinate a calendar of daily posts, as well as develop and implement project-based social media campaigns.

**Knowledge and Experience**
To be successful in this role, you will have the following knowledge and experience:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications or related discipline and at least five years’ demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably within the cultural sector.
- Demonstrated experience working across numerous social media channels and successfully developing and coordinating engaging and diverse social media content, including videos and graphics.
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and evaluating social media strategies to generate awareness and engagement.
- Demonstrated experience in developing communications and engagement plans across a range of medium to achieve key organisation objectives.

- The Communications Officer role is responsible for creating and coordinating social media content from numerous contributors. With this in mind, briefly explain your day-to-day experience in coordinating timely and engaging social media content.
