**The role**

Internal Audit supports the provision of value adding and insightful internal audit services that help improve the Origin’s financial and operational control environment associated with activity across for example Corporate Functions, Energy Markets and Projects.

Reporting to the Head of Audit, the role of the Internal Audit Lead is delivering internal audits per the annual Internal Audit Plan. This includes planning, fieldwork, reporting, and engaging management throughout the internal audit process. The role will also involve supporting Internal Audit co-source providers on an engagement-by-engagement basis. Note: Location is flexible - Melbourne or Sydney

Key Responsibilities will include:

- Assist in the development of an internal audit scope and approach, set clear and appropriate expectations, and obtain business commitment to deliver internal audits
- Conduct fieldwork to accurately identify control gaps and inefficiencies, and appropriately describe the risk, root cause and consequence of these
- Support an effective and efficient data analytics approach. This may involve working closely with co-source providers to identify data sources, access and collect data, and prepare and analyse data, interpreting data, and reporting insights and impacts on the control environment
- Assist in the evaluation of the effectiveness of first
- and second-line risk management and other assurance activities, and determining the effect of those activities on the overall control environment, and the internal audit test plan.
- Assist in the preparation of concise, insightful and value adding internal audit reports, and providing advice to our stakeholders in formulating appropriate corrective actions
- Assist in the completion of internal audit engagement closure steps, including assisting with senior management engagement and communicating internal audit outcomes
- Collaborate with peers and leaders on functional projects and other ongoing activities to maintain and advance the internal audit function at Origin

**Is this you?**

To be considered for this role you will show a collaborative approach to internal audit and partner effectively with the business and each function. You will have a continuous improvement mindset and a practical approach to problem solving.

You will also be able to demonstrate:

- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a related operational assurance or consulting roles either in large multi-location organisations or professional services
- Relevant Professional Certification e.g., Engineering, Chartered Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, CPA, etc.
- Knowledge of operational internal auditing, the ability to evaluate the design and operating effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls, identify control gaps and recommend appropriate mitigating actions.
- Experience drafting internal audit reports, including simplifying technical content.
- Knowledge and experience relating to the any of the following areas:

- operational internal auditing
- risk management
- data analytics and robotics auditing
- process improvement/transformation and/or LEAN
- major projects
- Good business acumen an intuitive understanding of what is reasonable business practice.
