About the Business Unit
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer, and stronger Victoria.
The People and Workplace Services (PWS) business unit provides a range of services supporting our people and workplaces including human resource policy and strategy; organisational culture and change; recruitment and retention; performance and development; pay, benefits and workforce reporting; safety and wellbeing; workplace relations; and employee conduct. The PWS promotes a culture to engage and develop the workforce, providing every person with the opportunity to unlock and achieve their potential.
Payroll Services is a function within the People and Workplace Services group and is responsible for payroll services including taxation, superannuation, salary sacrifice, and processing of timesheets (manual and electronic) and the provision of advice to managers and employees. Accuracy and attention to detail is critical as are excellent communication and personal skills with strong customer focus.

About the Role

**Some of your duties may include**:

- Administer remuneration and benefits in a professional and timely manner
- As a senior member of Payroll Services, assist in leading, motivating, supervising, including the management of the performance process of team members in the provision of a comprehensive customer focused payroll service to clients across the department
- Actively assist in ensuring a high standard is maintained and strict timelines are met in the team's delivery of human resource services
- Act as an escalation point for payroll officers and resolve complex operational payroll issues arising
- Undertake adhoc complex payroll investigations and make informed recommendations as to action

About Role
- Knowledge of and experience in human resource services and payroll, with an emphasis on remuneration packaging in a government environment
- Experience and excellent proficiency in the use of CHRIS21 or other payroll systems
- Experience in high volume transactional payroll environment(s)
- Ability to interpret and provide advice on departmental policies and legislation.

Qualifications/Requirements
- A relevant qualification or working experience is highly desirable.
