The position is accountable for delivering timely and accurate payroll services to staff of Department of Health and Department of Families Fairness and Housing, Statutory Bodies and Authorised Offices with a specific responsibility for managing payroll matters for executive officers.
The position is accountable for delivering effective payroll services to executive staff while providing a responsive, customer service focused experience, through effective communication, stakeholder management and a proactive problem-solving approach.
The executive payroll team will operate and provide bespoke payroll services to departmental, statutory and authorised executive officers.
Integral to the success of this position will be the Team Leaders ability to adapt to change and work to improve the delivery of payroll services across the department and positively impact the customer service expectation of the department's employees
**Accountabilities**:
- Provide quality customer service through effective communication, offering timely responses to a range of queries and flexible problem solving.
- Deliver high quality payroll services to managers and executive employees through
- preparing and processing the fortnightly payroll
- undertaking transactions relating to employment conditions and benefits
- Updating and maintaining associated personnel and payroll records
- identify and prepare documentation regarding salary overpayments and recovery
- provide a range of payroll related reports that effectively meet managers' information needs.
- Effectively lead and provide support to a team of Payroll Services employees engaged in the provision of a range of Payroll HR administration functions by:
- Maintaining the team focus to exceptional customer outcomes
- Supporting individuals to maximise their personal potential whilst managing the team outcomes
- Monitoring day to day activities and workloads to achieve expected service delivery objectives
- Maintaining team member updates and meeting requirements including weekly one on ones and PDP performance monitoring meetings per quarter
- Making accessible all relative information for employees to access safe systems of work
- Model the department values, ethics and code of conduct via your personal behaviours and interactions
- Impart well-researched, accurate and meaningful advice to employees and managers on employment conditions and benefits.
- Assist managers to better understand employment conditions and benefits and relevant payroll matters.
- Operate as an effective member of the payroll team, regularly contributing to developing better systems and practices across payroll.
- Be a reliable source of expertise, assisting and supporting team members to build their competence and confidence. Where required, act more formally as mentor/coach for a payroll officer, particularly new employees.
- Support Team to ensure payroll production and outputs meet timelines.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
