The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Workforce Development Supervisor to provide leadership for the learning, development, and training function for the Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC), enabling opportunities for staff to participate in appropriate and relevant development training and working on capability development plans.

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) delivers high quality services to Victorians to provide a justice and community safety system that works together to build a safer, fairer, and stronger Victoria.
Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) is a 954-bed maximum-security remand facility based in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. Prisoners on remand are alleged offenders who were not bailed when charged with a crime and are awaiting the outcome of their court case.
About the role
The Workforce Development Supervisor is responsible for providing professional and efficient services that support the MRC's key workforce development function, strategic goals and directions. The position provides leadership for the learning, development, and training function for the MRC, enabling opportunities for staff to participate in appropriate and relevant development training and working on capability development plans. The role will also work closely with the MRC executive team and stakeholders to build operational capability.
Compliance with the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) standards, coordination of trainers and assessors, and alignment with the DJCS People and Workplace Services Learning and Development unit will ensure success in this role.
This position requires direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.
**Some of your duties will include**:
- Manage orientation and induction programs, staff competency training and evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of these training programs.
- Manage a multi-disciplinary team of trainers, squad managers and Emergency Response Group (ERG) members in relation to learning and development initiatives.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the prison and assist the management team with relevant projects or tasks as requested.

About you
**To be successful in this role, you will have**:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of competency-based training and assessment, including the ability to plan, manage and implement training solutions.
- Ability to coordinate teams, provide internal consultancy to managers and provide authoritative advice on complex issues.
- Demonstrated ability to design, facilitate and implement a variety of training programs.
- Sound understanding of program evaluation techniques.
**Qualifications**:
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or a relevant qualification is desirable.

Upon commencement of employment with the department you will be required to provide evidence that you have an up-to-date vaccination status within the timelines specified by the department into the DJCS Service Portal. This includes evidence of three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine required by the department (from time to time).
**Acceptable evidence includes**:
- COVID-19 digital certificate or ATAGI exemption certificate (available via your myGov account)
- Your immunisation history statement (available via your myGov account)
Other documentation outside the above will not be accepted as evidence of having received your COVID-19 vaccine doses.
