Auburn, Australia Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure Full time

**About Us**
Abergeldie is a majority locally owned contractor with 30 years’ industry experience in Australia and New Zealand. We design and deliver projects in the Water, Bridges, Transport, Underground, Energy and Remediation industry sectors. Projects include dams, bridges, tunnels, water and wastewater treatment process facilities, rail infrastructure, mining infrastructure, electrical substations, marine works and pipeline rehabilitation: the complex infrastructure needed to build better communities.

**About the Opportunity**
We’re looking for a Head of Safety Operations to lead safety across all areas of Abergeldie. This role has an ANZ remit, supporting projects and teams across Australia and New Zealand, and will require regular interstate travel (and similarly, at times to New Zealand). Reporting to the General Manager for Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability, you’ll oversee a team of ANZ Safety Managers and Safety Advisors, guiding them to deliver best-practice safety outcomes across our sites and operations.

This is a key senior leadership position, driving the strategies, systems, and culture that keep our people safe, ensure compliance, and enable sustainable project delivery. You’ll strengthen how safety is managed across the business - embedding practical processes, clear expectations and risk-based approaches that help our teams work safely every day.

You’ll be a trusted partner and leader to our delivery teams, ensuring safety is built into planning and delivery, whilst meeting our legal, regulatory and client obligations. Working closely with our HSES leadership, you’ll champion proactive risk management, lead safety culture initiatives and oversee safety performance across multiple sites and projects. You’ll also ensure our safety systems align with ISO certifications, legislation, and industry best practice.

**What You’ll Bring to the Team**
You’re an experienced safety leader who can balance strategic direction with practical, on-the-ground support. You’ll have:

- Extensive senior safety leadership experience with a demonstrated national and international remit, ideally in construction or infrastructure.
- Proven and demonstrated ability to lead and develop national and international safety teams (including Safety Managers and Senior Safety Advisors), across diverse projects and locations.
- A strong track record of embedding fit-for-purpose safety systems and driving cultural change in complex operational environments.
- Relevant qualifications in Work Health and Safety, supported by relevant certifications such as ICAM, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor or equivalent.
- Experience in high-level incident investigations, audits, regulatory engagement, and maintaining ISO certifications.
- The confidence and credibility to influence senior executives, operational leaders and client representatives.
- A collaborative, pragmatic communication style and a genuine commitment to continuous improvement and safe project delivery.

**Why You Should Work With Us**
Our people are what make Abergeldie successful, and we make sure that this is the kind of place where great people enjoy working for the long term. We have a range of employee benefits, including the Abergeldie Bonus Scheme, where all eligible employees share in the benefits of the projects they have helped to deliver. When we deliver winning projects, we celebrate success together.
