**The Role**
The contract manager is responsible for the formation, management and governance of an estimated 60 contracts annually which form an essential support element in the delivery of foreign language capability for the Defence Force School of Languages (DFSL). The Contract Manager position sits within the DFSL Headquarters, reporting directly to the Executive Officer. Additionally, the role provides support and guidance to the executive staff of DFSL in the functions of procurement and contract management. The Contract Manager is also the first line supervisor of the DFSL Finance Officer.

The key duties of this role are:

- Lead a small team responsible for the financial and contract management of DFSL
- Create, manage and oversee all contract management key functions
- Stakeholder liaison with suppliers and DFSL executives including issues management
- Respond to all contract related enquiries
- Proactively manage the contracting schedules
- Audit, review and implement continual improvement activities to contract and finance processes
- Provide contract assistance to our sister school, the Defence International Training Centre (DITC) as required
- Provide contract governance advice to executives
- Regular briefing of executives and preparation of contract and finance reports as requested
- Oversee the DFSL finance operations and manage the APS 4 Finance Officer
- Conduct other duties in line with the APS6 Standard, as directed

- Have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Adobe software.
- Experience managing direct reports including coaching and mentoring staff.
