**Your new role**:
For decades JORN - a network of three over the horizon radars - has been the technological Holy Grail for many engineers and is considered one of Australia's greatest defence triumphs. As the Technical Publications Author, you will complete technical writing activities in accordance with the relevant project procedures and work instructions, to achieve project technical, schedule and cost goals.
Reporting to the JORN Technical Publications and Training Lead you will:
- Conduct technical writing activities for Project specific requirements
- Develop project specific technical documentation and ensure that the product meets all requirements including safety and regulatory requirements
- Utilise technical writing tools effectively to undertake documentation development and verification
- Undertake technical writing activities within own competence without day to day guidance or supervision, including liaison with customers and suppliers as appropriate
- Make technical writing decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority
About you
**As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have**:
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in a Technical Writing discipline
- Experience in a defence or related technical industry (desirable)
- An understanding of the Engineering Development Lifecycle
- Demonstrated understanding of DEF(AUST) 5629B
- Knowledge of Configuration and Change Management principles
- Very Proficient oral and written communications skills
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
