The Role
Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) is seeking an experienced Trials/Test and Evaluation professional with Work Health and Safety knowledge and a passion for safety to fulfil the role of Principal Trials Safety Advisor within the Trials Authority team based at DSTG Edinburgh.
A unique role, as the DSTG Principal Trial Safety Lead you will have a hands-on role in supporting complex trials which will include assisting with planning, helping to understand complex compliance/conformance obligations and assisting in the development of control strategies. As a technical lead you will provide mentoring and support for appointed Trial Safety Officers. This will include oversight for suitable training and development of these functions into the future.
As the DSTG Principal Trial Safety Advisor you will be the primary lead for all field trial safety related guidance and support to research staff. This will include leading the development and streamlining of processes which enhance trials safety, ensuring processes are designed to support research trials activities and outcomes. This will include ensuring alignment with the Defence and DSTG Work Health and Safety Management Systems (WHSMS) requirements.

DSTG Trials Authority is responsible for the provision of tailored support and guidance to Defence Science and Technology staff involved in complex Defence research activities, Trial activities, Test and Evaluation or Defence exercises.
Trials Authority contributes to the Defence Innovation, Science and Technology capability through expert advice and support across all Defence capability domains in the Trials context making it a unique work environment and opportunity.

In providing safety leadership in the development and implementation of complex trials, test and evaluation and/or field research activities.
In be able to lead the collaboration, and development of usable safety documentation.
In being a team player with a willingness to share learning and support/mentor peers.
Which demonstrate a high level of written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clarity, listen, understand, and adapt your communication style to the audience.
Which demonstrate the ability to manage tasks and achieve results in a complex environment.
