**The Role**
The Breakdown Team Leader (BTL) will be proactive and seek to conduct Explosive Ordnance (EO) breakdown in a safe and methodical manner, leading a small team with mínimal direction working with-in a highly classified environment.
The BTL will conduct research and plan the breakdown of EO collegially to ensure thoroughness and technical compliance of the breakdown plan. The BTL will be meticulous in gathering data, sketch, note and image taking to inform various technical reports, which will be completed to a very high standard.
The BTL is an authority on the breakdown of EO. Engaging with science leads, internal to and external to the organisation, the BTL will liaise with stakeholders to identify their unique requirements and therefore ensure expectations are met, information and or hardware is transferred and legislative compliance within Defence is met.
The BTL will plan and manage the disposal of energetic materials utilising bespoke and High Risk Work equipment and methods to ensure disposal occurs without damage to equipment and in a safe manner to mitigate any danger to personnel.
**About our Team**
The Advanced Propulsion and Weapons Effects (APWE) branch within Sensors and Effectors Division (SED) has unique sovereign capabilities and expertise in weapons and explosive ordnance (WEO) science and technology (S&T). This capability is strategically important for Defence supporting all stages of the munition life cycle by sustaining current weapons and transitioning next generation technology to ADF capability.
To achieve this effectively and efficiently DST Group employs a small team of specialists within Advance Ordnance Technologies (AOT) who are responsible for the breakdown and safing of advanced weapons systems into sub components, mitigating energetic and hazardous material and subsequent distribution of sub components to Science and Technology Leaders for further analysis and testing.
AOT is also responsible for the management of the facilities and infrastructure required for the safe storage and transportation of explosive ordnance and weapons systems, the inspection and lifing of explosive ordnance and inventory management.
