Safety Coordinator

Reporting to the Human Resources Advisor, the primary purpose is to assist the HR team in maintaining record, track and manage all administrative procedures and processes relating to the day-to-day operation of the Human Resources Department. **Key accountabilities and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to**:

- Have a key and strong understanding of COR (Chain of responsibility)
- Create and implement workplace health and safety plans and procedures in the workplace according to legal guidelines
- Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
- Evaluate health and safety practice and procedures for risk assessment and following legal guidelines
- Monitor employee conformity / compliance to safety laws and policies.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to find cause and take prevention measures for further incidents
- Participates in team meetings and provides regular on-site project presence.
- Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
- Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker’s compensation claims
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
- Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics
- Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
- Plans, implements, manages, and maintains comprehensive environmental safety & health programs on Forrestfield premises and at our regional site locations.
- Collaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management. Maintains a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence.
- Guarantees that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies and procedures, contract document.

- Ability to balance both Re-Active and Pro-Active work orders relative to the organizations safety and operational needs
- Strong special and situational awareness
- A minimum 12 months Health Safety and Compliance experience
- Previous experience in the Transport industry is preferred, but not required
- WA Drivers Licence
- Australian Work Rights
