ABOUT YOU
As an Operations Manager at Port Phillip Prison, you will provide a safe and secure environment for staff, prisoners, contractors and visitors and will oversee your team's responsibilities and make sure they are well maintained. This role will ideally suit someone with experience in a Correctional setting coupled with demonstrated experience in a supervisory or management capacity. As the Operations Manager at Port Phillip Prison, you will bring a proactive approach when dealing with incidents within the facility and work collaboratively in conjunction with your team and other Operations Managers across the Prison.
RESPONSIBILITIES

**The core responsibilities of this role are to**:

- Actively deliver the company's vision and values demonstrated by their own personal behaviours and the standards they require of others
- Visit all areas of responsibility daily, providing guidance, leadership and support to staff and maintaining good order of the prison
- Develop strong and effective relationships with staff, partners, contractors and our client
- Ensure staff teams are engaged and accountable, promoting consultation and feedback to support a positive workplace culture and ensuring teams understand and comply with the required legislative framework that informs how the job should be done
- To attend and contribute to relevant management staff and prisoner meetings and maintain records
- Ensure records of incidents and subsequent disciplinary hearings are accurately completed including the timely conduct of hearings and correct sanctions
- In partnership with the Senior Operation Manager and Manager of Security Intelligence attend weekly briefs to determine applicable strategies to be implemented across your operational portfolio which focuses on a safe and secure work environment.
- Investigate and monitor staff performance
- Comply with company procedures and policies ensuring all operations are conducted in a safe and responsible manner
- Support the Executive Management Team in the daily operational requirements of the prison as required.
- Undertake duties as directed within skill and experience level, participating in the operations of the organisation
- Mentoring and coaching of staff
- Participate in on call responsibilities (1 day per week) and on weekends (1 weekend in 5) as rostered Manage prisoner complaints in a timely manner
- Accountable for the delivery of operational SDO's / KPI's in accordance with contracted services.

**The essential requirements from you**:

- Ability to deal with challenging situations
- Ability to manage, mentor and lead staff
- Sound understanding of the legislative framework which governs the correctional environment
- Minimum five years' experience in a Correctional or Industrial Environment
- Minimum two years in a Supervisory role
- Cert III Correctional Practice or equivalent accreditation/experience
