
Outside Sales Representative

We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialty Product Representative to generate new business opportunities by calling on retailers, builders, contractors and architects to generate demand for targeted products with channel influencers and to drive specified product sales to new and established accounts. In addition, this position is responsible for providing specialized knowledge and support to the Company’s channel partners, assisting with project management and building customer loyalty. This includes representing and promoting the Company and its services and products, obtaining orders and closing sales, increasing customer satisfaction, responding to customer needs and growing market share. The territory for this position is based in Northern California and responsible for servicing the San Francisco Peninsula.
**Responsibilities include**:
- Meet established sales and gross margin goals while ensuring customer satisfaction
- Create and implement an annual business plan to establish priorities, increase market share and identify opportunities with the greatest potential to specify products or close sales. Determine strategies and goals for each account and specialty product.
- Schedule appointments and travel to accounts in order to develop relationships, understand business issues, pull sales through the channel by the specification of targeted products, sell products and Company programs, and provide service
- Educate channel partners about the Company’s value proposition in order to drive loyalty, satisfaction, and sales
- Act as a liaison between the Company and the customer to resolve product, inventory and other issues
- Educate channel influencers and customers by conducting sales presentations and product knowledge meetings
- Research and develop lists of potential channel partners, follow-up on potential leads and secure commitment for specification or sale of products
- Work closely with and support the sales team by informing them of new projects, assisting them during the sales process and providing technical solutions and support.
- Interface with manufacturers and their representatives to gain support and make joint presentations and sales calls
- Launch promotional campaigns through product placement, signage, marketing materials and training
- Utilize CRM to maintain a database of customers and projects, record activities and other relevant information, manage accounts and develop opportunities
- Maintain current knowledge of products, including technical information and specifications, building code issues and revisions, the competition and market conditions
- Represent the Company and actively participate at industry and promotional events, home shows, and in professional and trade organizations related to channel influencers
**Desired Skills & Experience**
- 5 years experience in an outside sales position with building materials or in a related industry
- Highly competent and experienced at creating pull-through sales with channel partners and influencers
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Construction Management or a related field preferred
- Confident, self-motivated and enjoys working autonomously in new situations
- Persuasive, professional and personable verbal and written communication skills with individuals or groups
- Calm working under pressure with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Highly competent in the areas of accuracy, organization, planning and problem solving
- Strong computer skills including a high level of proficiency using Microsoft Office, experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software desirable
- A road warrior with a valid driver’s license, dependable personal vehicle and a satisfactory driving record
- Reside within the territory
- Able to satisfactorily pass a background and driver’s license check and a drug test
