About the Role
The Portfolio Analysis team is a critical part of the Integrated Portfolio Planning business unit, providing high-quality analysis and reporting services with the use (and development) of sophisticated models to the Integrated Energy functions. The team continuously provides assessments of AGL’s diverse portfolio, considering market dynamics and trading opportunities to assist key stakeholders in Trading, Origination and Physical Market Trading functions to actively manage the company’s wholesale portfolio.
This role will primarily provide analytical support to AGL’s Physical Market Trading teams across all commodities, including electricity, gas, and renewables certificates and provide support to AGL’s decarbonisation pathway. They will help to develop and implement market-leading value-creating trading strategies for new (and existing) renewable and firming capacity (combination of batteries, pumped hydro, gas storages) fleet.
What you’ll be doing:
- Delivery of high-quality end-to-end analysis to support the decision making process(es)
- Support the delivery within cross-functional teams on ad-hoc projects to align business objectives
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of AGL’s Analytics capability, through continuous improvement in the design, development, testing and implementation of AGL’s in-house analytics systems
- Comply with regulations and risk policies relevant to the Portfolio Analysis team, ensuring all Health, Safety and Environment goals are adhered to, while meeting AGL’s policies and standards for HSE Management
- Demonstrate AGL Values by always acting in its best interests, working together across the business to create the best overall results and decisions

About You
What you’ll bring to the table:
- Interest in the Australian Energy Landscape and learning about the decarbonisation transition from within one of Australia’s key energy leaders
- Excellent numeracy and analytical skills, including a sound grasp of the concepts of statistics and probability
- Creative problem solving and inquisitive mind with a passion for data analysis, forecasting, statistics, IT, or commercial, mathematical, or econometric modelling will be well regarded
- Communicating clearly and transparently; Ability to use the simplest possible terms to convey relevant features and assumptions of analysis with team members; seeking and being receptive to feedback
- This is a role for a graduate with a tertiary qualification in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Operations Research, Engineering, or Science, still in their early careers
