About the Role:
The Portfolio Analysis team is a critical part of the Integrated portfolio Planning business unit that provides high-quality analysis, planning and reporting services through the use and development of sophisticated models to guide the Integrated Energy functions. The team provides assessment of our diverse portfolio, considering market dynamics and trading opportunities to assist key stakeholders in Trading, Physical Market Trading and Origination functions to actively manage the company’s wholesale portfolio in a rapidly changing market.

What you’ll be doing:

- Provide analytical support to our Physical Market Trading teams to optimise decision performance across all commodities, including electricity, gas and renewable certificates
- Model, optimise and plan our wholesale portfolio under the guidance of the Principal Analyst
- Support the planning and execution of AGL portfolio decisions
- Support the preparation of reports that detail the impacts and changes to fuel positions
- Provide support to our decarbonisation pathway through the development and implementation of market leading value creating trading strategies for new and existing renewable and storage capacity
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders such as finance, risk, regulations and other analytical teams
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of AGL’s Analytics capability, through continuous improvement in the design, development, testing and implementation of AGL’s in-house analytics systems

About You:
You will ideally have a keen interest in the Australian Energy Landscape and the factors that influence the decarbonisation transition. Your strong technical and analytical skills, as well as your ability to solve problems, will set you up for success.

What you’ll bring to the table:

- Tertiary qualifications in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Engineering or Science
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an analytical role. Energy experience is preferred but not essential
- Experience using SQL, Python and R. Simulation platforms such as Plexos is highly regarded
- Advanced communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
- An inquisitive mind with a passion for data analysis, forecasting, statistics and modelling
