**Position Overview**
The Federal Court has a current need for a Team Leader - Migration in its CTS team based in Adelaide. The Team Leader has responsibility for the delivery of high-quality registry and administrative support to Judges and Registrars. The role entails supervision of a team of CTS officers in multiple locations nationally; supervision and leadership of migration Cultural Liaison Officers and Interpreter Liaison Officers; and working flexibly and proactively with a range of internal and external stakeholders including Judges, Registrars, legal and other professionals, national CTS teams, and Court users.
**Key Responsibilities and Duties**
The Team Leader - Migration leads the CTS migration team in the Federal Court by delivering effective and efficient management of registry and administrative support. The position reports to the National Judicial Registrar - Migration.
- Working collaboratively with the migration registrars in relation to team strategic management and planning.
- Managing and developing CTS migration staff, including induction, training and performance.
- Coordinating workflow within the CTS migration team to ensure timely ownership, performance and dispensation of action items in a high-volume environment.
- Providing specialist supervision and leadership to migration Cultural Liaison Officers and Interpreter Liaison Officers.
- Developing and maintaining reference and training material to document standard practices and changes to practices.
- Acting as the point of contact and escalation point for internal and external stakeholders for the CTS migration Team
- Working collaboratively with the migration registrars to problem-solve, and to develop initiatives and solutions to recurring issues where required.
- Creating, maintaining and rolling out new processes.
- Providing high level administrative support to the migration registrars.
- Developing and maintaining positive, productive and collaborative relationships with Judges, Registrars and Court users.
- Providing reports and statistics on migration caseload data.
**Competencies & Attributes - National Registrar**
- Experience working in a professional environment, such as a Court or Government
- Knowledge of migration law and Federal Courts systems
- Experience in management, specifically national teams
- Experience and/or experience in cross-cultural communication is an advantage
**Selection Criteria**
- Demonstrated staff management, change management, leadership and development experience (preferably in a legal, courts or public service environment) and the ability to promote a team environment.
- Relationship management capacity, including an ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, including judicial officers, as well as strong interpersonal skills, including a proven ability to manage stressful and/or conflict situations in a professional manner, on a continual basis.
- Demonstrated sound organisational and problem-solving skills including initiative, the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
- Analytical and report writing skills with the ability to provide strategic advice on trends and policy to management.
- Understanding of the public service operating environment including the requirement for legislative compliance, probity and accountability.
**Eligibility**
- Australian citizenship - the successful applicant must hold Australian citizenship.
- Security and character clearance - the successful applicant must satisfy a Police Records Check and may also be required to complete security clearances during the course of their employment.
