**Who are we looking for?**
We are seeking a Contracts Officer to join Office of Research Services, Research Portfolio, Academic Division.

The Contracts Officer is part of the Contracts Unit in the Office of Research Services (ORS) and is primarily responsible for independently managing low to medium risk research contracts from across all QUT faculties. The successful applicant will be motivated, agile and proactive with expertise in performing due diligence, assessing risk and managing records. You will have detailed knowledge and experience with research contracts and consider yourself an authority in low to medium risk contract arrangements. You will also have experience with contracts requiring a high level of specialist knowledge. The position will liaise with a wide range of stakeholders including researchers, research legal, as well as the pre-award and post-award areas within the Research Portfolio. You will be confident to work independently and as part of a team. You will identify ways to continuously improve performance and build capability aligned to service delivery requirements. This position reports to the Manager, Contracts Unit for career planning, development, and performance expectations.

**What you need to succeed**
- Education, training and/or experience equivalent to a degree with at least four (4) years subsequent relevant experience.
- Extensive experience with independently managing research contract development and negotiation of low to moderate risk research agreements and the ability to manage high risk research agreements under supervision.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and recommend solutions to challenging issues.
- A high degree of initiative, with a track record of independently keeping records, managing tasks and driving projects to completion.
- Highly-developed written and oral communication skills with demonstrated experience in negotiation and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a high functioning team environment
