**About the Group**
The purpose of the Research and Education Group is to define, lead, produce, share and
support cutting edge research and learning by, with, and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander peoples. The Group supports an annual flagship AIATSIS summit and connects
AIATSIS with universities and the wider research sector to coordinate and influence research
agendas.

**About the Program Area**
The Ethics team sits within the Research and Education Group. In the ethics space, the team is
responsible for leading and influencing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research, ethics,
and protocols. This includes the AIATSIS Code of Ethics for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
Research and the AIATSIS Research Ethics Committee, which is responsible for reviewing ethics

**Role Summary**
We are seeking a high performing and talented Committee Support Officer to assist the
operations of the AIATSIS Research Ethics Committee. The position reports to the Assistant
Director, Research Ethics.
A merit pool may be created for future vacancies of similar positions across the Institute.

**Key Responsibilities**
Key responsibilities of the role include:

- assist with the organisation of AIATSIS Research Ethics Committee meetings, including

coordinating the preparation of meeting papers and briefs, taking meeting minutes and
following up actions arising.
- support the maintenance and records management of all AIATSIS Research Ethics
Committee records and the setting of forward meeting agendas.
- manage the AIATSIS Research Ethics mailbox, databases and checking and verifying

claims for payment.
- organise the AIATSIS Research Ethics Committee annual face-to-face meeting, including

procurement of a venue, organising flights and other travel logistics.
- liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to coordinat
