**Position Purpose**:
Reporting to the General Manager of Future Grid & Asset Management, the Head of Energy Planning is responsible for shaping and executing long-term strategies for the development and management of our energy grid. You will lead investment initiatives, grid connection strategies, and intervention programs to align with future energy demands and the company’s strategic objectives. Additionally, you'll play a key role in supporting our decarbonisation efforts, integrating renewable energy sources, and building partnerships to strengthen energy infrastructure.

Beyond ensuring operational efficiency and innovation in connection and network processes, this role fosters cross-department collaboration to meet evolving community energy infrastructure needs. You will also design and implement a 25-year investment program, focusing on augmentation expenditure and connection-related investments.

Through these responsibilities, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future energy landscape, driving sustainable development, and leading the transition to a cleaner, more efficient energy system.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Long-Term Grid Planning: Lead the development of comprehensive grid planning and forecasting strategies to identify and prioritise investment, connection, and intervention programs that align with future energy needs, while assessing grid assurance, equitable allocation and stability.
- Decarbonisation Liaison: Collaborate with large customers to support their decarbonisation efforts, understanding and mitigating impacts on the grid to ensure seamless integration of new loads and renewable energy sources.
- Customer and Developer Engagement: Engage with new connecting customers and developers to explore and capitalise on potential grid opportunities, fostering partnerships that enhance our energy infrastructure.
- Innovation and Efficiency: Champion ongoing innovation, automation, and efficiency in all connection and network-related programming, ensuring we remain at the forefront of energy technology and practices.
- Cross-Organisational Collaboration: Work closely with various departments to adapt to the evolving expectations surrounding community energy infrastructure, ensuring a cohesive approach to energy planning.
- Investment Program Development: Design and implement a 25-year investment program focusing on Augex (Augmentation Expenditure) and connection-related investments, aligning resources with strategic goals.

**Qualifications, Certifications and Licences**:

- Degree qualification in Engineering, Business or equivalent

**Skills and Experience**:

- Proven experience in energy planning, grid management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of decarbonisation strategies and renewable energy integration.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Innovative mindset with a focus on automation and efficiency improvements.
