There's never been a better time to be in energy. And there's never been a more exciting time to be at Endeavour Energy.

More than 2.7 million people across New South Wales rely on us every day for the supply of safe and reliable power to their homes and businesses. We employ more than 1,700 people across our catchment, making us one of the largest employers in Sydney's Greater West.

We need talented people who care about one another and the work they do. Why? Because we're one of Australia's fastest growing networks, connecting 20,000 new customers each year, including the Western Sydney Aerotropolis. And when we power together, we go further, faster; towards a smarter, more sustainable future for us all.

On offer

This is an exciting new role where you can join a team that thrives on care, collaboration, and high performance, supporting both your colleagues and our customers. You'll have the opportunity to step up and lead in a rapidly evolving energy sector, while feeling recognised and rewarded for your contributions. Take pride in working for an organisation that provides an essential service and plays a key role in driving the energy transition. You will also benefit from access to training, personal development, and clear career progression pathways, helping you grow your skills and your career.

About the role

The Future Energy Planning Engineer will play a pivotal role in strategic planning and forecasting the fastest growing network in NSW. As a Future Energy Planning Engineer this role is responsible for system planning, assessing new connections, power systems modelling, forecasting and shaping the tools and processes for the next generation of planning.

In a landscape with increasing PV, EVCI, batteries, electrification and large-scale loads and generation across all parts of the network, this role supports the energy transition, while also contributing to the growth of Western Sydney, the Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Blue Mountains.

Key accountabilities

  • Plan and optimise the distribution network to meet growing CER penetration, demand and high-volume generation connections.
  • Recommend innovative, cost-effective investment strategies in collaboration with design, delivery, and connections teams.
  • Develop forecasts and models to guide long-term planning, decarbonisation, and emerging energy technologies.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, developers, and market stakeholders to anticipate and address evolving network needs.
  • Drive advanced planning tools, scenario modelling, and core planning products to enable agile, data-driven investment decisions.

About you

You're a solutions-driven professional who thrives on embedding new capabilities at scale, navigating complex power system scenarios, and delivering high-quality, customer-focused outcomes. You confidently operate in uncertain, fast-paced environments, balancing diverse stakeholder needs while providing clear, technically sound guidance that shapes the future of the energy network.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering
  • Undergraduate in electrical or computer science fields ideal.

Skills and experience

You have an electrical engineering background with strong knowledge of power systems, distribution networks, and emerging technologies like renewables, storage, and EVs, paired with hands-on experience running feasibility studies and load flows using PowerFactory or similar tools. You are highly analytical, with a proven ability to scrutinise, improve, and streamline complex processes for effective, practical outcomes.
