The role of the Industry and Workforce Development Lead is to drive prosperity of the region through attracting and developing priority industries, connecting employers to talent pools, and helping local businesses thrive. Support industry and business growth through connecting people, place, and projects, provide access to resources and where necessary support program design and development.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Work with the city’s commercial, industrial and retail landowners to support and enable investment and business attraction to the region.
- Act as the primary liaison for all industry development enquiries and activities
- Establish and/or leverage business networks and committees to drive growth in priority sectors.
- Work with Regional Development Australia, and Regional Jobs Program, State agencies, education and training stakeholders to ensure that growth industries are supported by the right workforce qualifications and skills.
- Facilitate business ecosystem connectivity to help local businesses to thrive through accessing local resources, ideas and talent
- Provide strategic advice regarding business development activities, priority sector needs and challenges and opportunities in the local business
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to demonstrate a track record of program design and implementation that results in quantifiable business outcomes for the maximum economic and social benefits. You will understand business and community ecosystems and be able to connect different parties for maximum economic and social benefit.
You will have strong capabilities in business development, stakeholder engagement and problem solving. You must be a skilled and effective facilitator creating opportunities for the benefit of local industry, Council, and the broader community by being and autonomous self-starter with capabilities to build relationships and drive short, medium
