The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Assessor to provide a critical role within Police, Racing, Victims and Coordination

**This is a prioritised role for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, who will be given priority consideration as per the special measures provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010**

**About the Business Unit**

The FAS represents a major leap forward in the Victorian Government's response to victims of crime. Established under the Victims of Crime (Financial Assistance Scheme) Act 2022 (the Act) the FAS provides financial assistance through a simple and easy to navigate process that is fair, sensitive, and responsive to victims' needs. It acknowledges harm done and is trauma informed, inclusive and culturally safe

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will have:
**Technical Expertise**

- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal community, both society and culture, and the issues impacting it.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and work effectively with the Victorian Aboriginal community.
- Experience working with victims of family violence, sexual assault, and victims of crime more broadly and an understanding of the systemic barriers faced by marginalised communities in the justice system.
- Commitment to actively pursuing a culturally safe workplace and organisation and improved outcomes for Aboriginal people, aligned with the principle of self-determination.
- Knowledge of risk factors for family violence and the Family Violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework

**Qualifications**

- A relevant qualification and/or experience in community services, social work, criminology, psychology, victim services and/or family violence is highly desirable.
