**The client**
Our client is the largest brain research group in the Southern Hemisphere researching a range of serious diseases including stroke, epilepsy, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and motor neurone diseases, depression and addiction. This institution are world leaders and continue to provide scientists and students with world class facilities.
**The opportunity**
Due to an internal promotion, as the Payroll Officer, you will form a critical part of this small payroll team where you will be supported by a Payroll Manager to provide an effective payroll function across the Institute for fortnightly and monthly payroll. By doing so, provide the best customer service to staff.
Primarily you will be responsible for:
- Prepare changes for monthly payrun
- Process and authenticate employee variations through Form Verse system
- Process Casual fortnightly payrun
- Input payroll variation to be reviewed/check
- Assist with PAYG tax reconciliation
- Assist Payroll Manager with ad-hoc payroll projects as required
- Responsible for Payroll setup for new employees, staff variations/adjustments as well as undertaking termination calculations and processing exiting employees
- Liaise with Human resources, regarding contract queries, leave type clarification and Casual employee offboarding
- Follow up directly with employee's and supervisors regarding leave submissions that require action
- Meeting with New Hires and providing them with information regarding to our payroll process and Greentree
- Maintain and secure employee personal records (electronic) ensuring integrity is maintained for all payroll changes and transactions
- Undertake periodic payroll training
- Provide quality customer service to all managers and staff ensuring accurate and timely responses to payroll related queries
**About you**:
As the selected Payroll Officer, you will have notable payroll experience and will exhibit superior payroll software skills and advanced Excel knowledge with the ability to use the more sophisticated features and functions including Pivot Tables and complex formulas and macros.
You're accustomed to working in a fast paced environment and have excellent attention to detail with precision. You will display capabilities with relevant knowledge of payroll related legislation, rules, policies, regulations, agreements (including EBA), awards and other compliance. Your excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to engage with a wide range of staff and executive management will be highly regarded.
Finally, proven knowledge of tax compliance and in particular salary packaging related to the Not-for-Profit sector along with an understanding of Human Resources principals and practices will position you for success.
