Principal Advisor

As Principal Advisor, you will have the opportunity to work across two exciting and diverse portfolios and provide expert advice and support to the Assistant Director-General Reviews, Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, and senior executives in relation to the implementation and monitoring of key programs and initiatives and business operations. Reviews, Curriculum, Teaching and Learning is multi-faceted and performs a large number of functions within the department including:
- Working closely with regions and school leaders to support state schools in Prep to Year 12 curriculum implementation, pedagogy, and associated strategic initiatives, to realise the potential of every student; and
- Supporting continuous improvement in state schools and education centres by providing leadership and oversight for the program of school, regional and a range of emerging system and place-based reviews.
About the role
**As the Principal Advisor, you will be confident**:
- Managing the business operations and day to day organisation of the Office of the Assistant Director-General, including key project activities, resources and executive support functions;
- Promoting strong service delivery connections and quickly establishing strong collaborative partnerships with officers across regions and key external stakeholders;
- Negotiating and facilitating opportunities and solutions, and influencing decision making across a range of complex issues and diverse stakeholders;
- Preparing and providing high level advice and support to the Assistant Director-General and other senior officers of the branch with respect to the state-wide implementation of strategic initiatives, schooling policies and procedures, including emergent and critical issues that may require immediate attention;
- Developing, managing and quality assuring the preparation of strategic responses, submissions, briefings and correspondence to complex and sensitive issues;
- Leading and managing teams to deliver on agreed outcomes, ensuring a culture of accountability and high-quality service delivery; and
- Contributing to strategic planning and reporting, governance and operational planning aspects across the branch.

- Effective negotiation and consultation skills as well as written and oral communication skills. This will enhance your stakeholder management skills to support effective business change, including the ability to initiate, influence and sustain productive and effective relationships with a network of key stakeholders.
