A rare and exciting opportunity has become available at AGL within the Finance leadership team. The Head of Trading & Treasury Risk provides leadership and direction to a diverse team to enable AGL to understand and manage the risks arising from the trading and treasury activities. The Trading and Treasury Risk Team is an important financial risk management function safeguarding AGL’s exposure to the fast-changing energy market.

What you’ll be doing:
Reporting directly into the CFO, you will:

- Provide leadership to a team of experienced Risk and Settlements professionals and drive appropriate focus in the key areas of risk analytics, risk governance, financial services regulatory compliance and settlement operations
- Lead and work closely with stakeholders in the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the Trading Risk Policy and Treasury Policy and provide recommendations to the Risk Management Committee (RMC), Treasury Committee and Board Audit and Risk Management Committee
- Oversee and maintain the controls, processes and systems to deliver the Risk and Settlements functions mandated by the Trading Risk Policy and Treasury Policy
- Facilitating the Risk committees, presenting at the RMC and regularly interacting with the CFO as the Chair of the RMC
- Monitor and assess systems to enable AGL’s full compliance with financial markets and environmental regulatory requirements
- Act as the AGL Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML-CTF) and Australian Financial Services License (AFSL) Compliance Officers
- Drive the ongoing development and improvement of market risk and credit risk measurement tools and appropriate reporting of risk factors to electricity, gas, oil, environmental products, fuel for generation and foreign exchange and other relevant products
- Advise senior management and the Board on appropriate risk measures
- Oversee settlements and contracting activities, ensuring the appropriate processes and controls are in place and adhere to the relevant policy requirements

About You

You will be an experienced senior leader, with diverse experience within a risk / compliance role in a large and complex organisation. You will have proven experience advising boards and risk management committees and be able to work effectively in a fast changing environment.

What you’ll bring to the table:

- Demonstrated leadership experience in a diverse technical/risk/compliance role within a large and complex organisation
- Broad business knowledge and demonstrated ability to understand and communicate the balance between risk reduction and commercial outcomes
- Confidence to present to and influence senior stakeholders
- Proactively propose practical, efficient and effective solutions to new problems
- Tertiary qualifications in a quantitative or business discipline (required)
- Post graduate degree (desirable)
- Experience in utility or financial markets (desirable)
- Experience in quantitative analytical skills (desirable)
