**The Role**
The Assistant Director, Australian Defence Science, Technology Research Summit (ADSTaR) Event Manager is responsible for supporting the Chief of Science Strategic Planning and Engagement (SSPE) Division in achieving strategic outcomes for the Chief Defence Scientist through the planning, coordination, and execution of directed events that ensure the achievement of the Defence mission and strategic objectives.

Key duties of the role include:

- Leading the planning and coordination of the ADSTaR event series.
- Managing external sponsorships, associated finance and governance requirements.
- Developing processes and procedures for management of ADSTaR.
- Liaise with and guide the steering committee to develop the overarching strategy.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to plan the ADSTaR program.

**About our Team**
DSTG Events and Awards is part of the Defence Science Communication (DSC) team, which sits within the Science Strategic Planning and Engagement Division. As a multidisciplinary team of trusted communication experts, DSC partners with internal and external stakeholders to produce diverse, dynamic and engaging communication that enables collaboration, shapes attitudes, builds relationships and promotes trust in Defence. The Science Strategic Planning and Engagement Team is responsible for strategically positioning DSTG to deliver maximum impact for Defence. The division co-ordinates and develops DSTGs external engagements and leads the development of science policy, the formulation of strategic research programs, and the investment of resources into Defences science and technology capabilities.
