The Role
The Sustainment and Asset Manager is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex to very complex materiel logistics work within an integrated Supercomputing workforce. They will be responsible for the development and implementation of robust asset management policy and processes that support the lifecycle of supercomputing capability assets in accordance with Defence and Government legislative frameworks and policy requirements.
The Sustainment and Asset Manager will exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform a leadership role within the Supercomputing Office.
They will exercise sound decision making and judgement to provide expert advice. They will have an in-depth knowledge of the Materiel Logistics function, policies and procedures relevant to their work within that function. They will engage in complex to very complex problem solving and issues management and may coordinate and perform detailed or sensitive projects that impact on strategic, political or operational outcomes for Defence.
They will be accountable to plan, lead, and manage a range of human and physical resources and exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve business outcomes. They will develop and implement work plans, set performance indicators, and review individual, team and business performance, focusing on identifying opportunities for building team capability and continuous improvement. They will set work that aligns with the strategic objectives of the Supercomputing Branch and communicate expected outcomes.
The Sustainment and Asset Manager will be responsible for actively managing key stakeholder relationships and will be required to identify relevant stakeholder’ expectations and concerns and communicate methodologies and practices to achieve outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development of their work area.
This position has people management responsibility and as such will be required to exercise people management skills and knowledge to lead a high performing and cohesive team.
**Position Duties**:
Accountable for leading a team, managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, managing workflows, and evaluating business outcomes.
Conduct annual supercomputing capability asset management and budgetary planning that is consistent with financial, political, and legislative requirements to ensure the efficient delivery of supercomputing capability to Defence.
Ensure business rules and processes around the request and procurement of supercomputing capability assets are appropriately documented, expectations are managed, and adherence to financial management and accounting procedures are followed.
Accountable for the receiving and receipt of supercomputing capability assets in accordance with Defence policy and procedure.
Ensure the relevant steps and guidelines are followed for the overall storage, logistics and general management of supercomputing assets in accordance with Defence policies.
Ensure the retirement, sanitisation and disposal of supercomputing assets is managed in an environmentally friendly and ethical manner, whilst adhering to all Defence media disposal and information security requirements.
Accountable that supercomputing assets are identifiable, labelled and managed in accordance with Defence policy.
Accountable for the accurate stocktaking, audits, spot-checks, and discrepancy management of supercomputing assets.
Accountable for the assessment, inspection, and testing of supercomputing assets being introduced into Defence networks, taking into consideration security, architecture, support and asset management requirements.
