**Position Information**:
Penrith Selective High School is a fully academically selective high school with a coeducational enrolment of 936 students, including 88% of students from a non-English speaking background. **Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Demonstrated expert knowledge of a broad range of Social Sciences curriculum and assessment with the capacity to lead the development and implementation of innovative, differentiated and high-quality teaching and learning programs that meet the needs of high potential and gifted students.

2. Demonstrated exemplary teaching and proven ability to lead teachers in the analysis of data to inform strategic planning, create opportunities for student growth and implement evidence-based, innovative pedagogical practice to improve student outcomes.

3. Demonstrated highly effective communication, organisation and collaborative skills that develop and support a cohesive Social Sciences faculty with an ability to lead collegial professional learning to improve student outcomes.

4. Demonstrated capacity to work as a highly effective, proactive and collaborative member of the school executive team in the implementation and evaluation of school strategic directions and whole school initiatives.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
